my wife videoed all the time with a hi 8 camera cancer took her from me but i now have dvd recordings for memories great product for what i needed
I believe that this product is fine, but I had to return it because I do not have the resources (space and equipment) to use this. My equipment is old and I am too old to get new TV and Vcr and DVD players.
A very short learning curve. Once on a power failure I was sure I had made a coaster, but no the unit recovered where it was on that DVD disk and went ahead and appended the rest of the video. I was looking to archive my old Hi-8 video tapes and this did just that. A good no frill product.
This unit is easy to install and easy to operate. great value for the money. I could have bought one with more bells and whistles for a lot more money, but so far this is a great investment. Very happy with my purchase. I bought one for myself and one for my father. great buy for someone who needs just the basic recorder/player.
It is equally adept at failing with all of those formats. While I realize my experience may be an exception, take this for what it's worth. At least then I wouldn't have to find some place to recycle this piece of trash. My D-R410 now does a fine job of wasting a few minutes in each futile attempt at reading a variety of pre-recorded DVDs and CDs, as well as blank DVD-Rs. I bought this four months ago, expecting something solid but not spectacular. All things considered, I'd have been better off setting my $120 on fire. Something that doesn't work out of the box may be a hassle to return, but when the fine Chinese craftsmanship holds up just long enough to pass the 90 day warranty period it's a complete waste.
