Although hesitant to make such a large purchase on-line, I decided to pull the trigger and go with this 52A550 and have had absolutely no regrets. Even received a $116.00 Amazon credit from their 30 day (from shipping date) price drop policy. Besides the tv's specifications and features, the overall positive reviews on this site were influential in my purchasing decision. CEVA delivery was flawless. Sleek, ergonomic styling with full functionality, large buttons and an optional backlight--nice. Same tv at the local BB and CC was $450+ more,PLUS 6% sales tax. Even the remote is impressive.
They e-mailed me when ready to deliver and were out the next morning. The speakers are average and certainly adequate for routine viewing. Very courteous and polite, they unpacked the tv (swivel stand attached), set it up on the stand, made sure everything was in working order and went over all the box contents with me. Price is excellent. Very pleased with all that. However, teamed up with a home theater system, the sound is awesome and the tv speakers become a moot point. I spent months researching HDTV's on-line and in stores, debated between 46" or 52" and then came across this Samsung on Amazon.
The sound can be improved somewhat by tweaking the equalizer function, but is lacking in treble and bass. The picture is awesome. The images are crisp, clear with vivid colors and dramatic contrast. Free shipping and set-up,no sales tax, Amazon price credit----an excellent buy and great value.
Wanted to get the A650, but the price difference didn't seem worth the feature difference. Very happy with performance so far.
NO MATTER IF YOU PUT IT ON MUSIC,GAMES ,NORMAL OR ANY OF THE OTHERS IT STILL DOES NOT SOUND LIKE YOU EXPECT A HDTV TO SOUND. I TRIED ALL THE SOUND ADJUSTMENTS BUT IT MAKES LITTLE DIFFERENCE. hdtv ln52a550 THE SOUND IS NOT GOOD. IT SOUNDS LIKE A CHEAP RADIO. I ALSO ADJUSTED THE FREQUENCES AND THAT WAS OF NO HELP
The TV is great and I haven't even gotten HD put on it yet. Then I found this 550 model Samsung at such a great price, I didn't want to pass up this opportunity. I had been thinking of buying a larger screen LCD TV for about a year but I needed to wait because I bought two 37" TV a year and a half ago for $1,000. each. Also I couldn't believe it when the delivery service completely set the TV up for me.
But what do you expect. I had a few friends around on the weekend and they were all stunned by the quality.Some reviewers have commented on the poor sound quality. If you can afford this TV, then adding some decent speakers into the package shouldn't be too much hassle.
It's not that bad, but sure, it's not that great. The TV is designed to look great and clunky speakers on the side would take away from that.I'm a gamer as well and the responsiveness of the screen is fantastic.Overall, I am really satisfied with this purchase. This TV is amazing.
I was a little concerned of the weight because it was going on a glass top TV stand).The picture quality is outstanding. You will love it. It arrived last week and was very easy to install (it was also lighter than what I expected.
