User Comments about the Boston Acoustics Horizon Solo High Performance AM/FM Clock Radio (Midnight)

After getting to work Late twice, I decided to return it. The same thing happened with the second unit within 8 weeks, so I returned that one too.The features and sound on this device are unbeatable for the money (just as good or better than the >$250 Tivoli) but I wish it could have been reliable. I was very happy with the case-touch snooze and the multi-position interface. I bought one of these in March 2008. The sleep feature would not work 4 out of five times I set it before bed and then after 2 weeks the alarm stopped sounding after it had been set. I also loved the rubberized exterior and adjustable display but the reliability has kept this Boston from coming home with me ever again.

I like the thought they put into keeping the front simple and uncluttered, without skimping on features. Dual alarms are a nice feature too. The case is sturdy and attractive. This is a well thought out radio, clearly stands out from the rest of the crowd, deserving of the 5 star rating given the competition, esp the ugly clumsy boombox/radios. I especially like the preset feature allowing rapid cycling through fm and am preset stations, without having to do a band change. The only thing I can think of to add would be a light-touch mute button, as the on/off takes a little bit of force. This unit has simple controls, legible display, lots of features, good sound. If you need the ipod dock, they have a stereo model.

Also, my office is a preverbal black home to signals, But this radio can pull out radio signals effortlessly. I use this radio at the office and when I need to answer the phone, it turns off real easy and visa versa. This radio looks like it doesn't do much, which may be true. But if you get yourself an AUX cable and hook it up to your iPod or computer, throw on some Internet radio, Supreme. I highly recommend this product.

FM sensitivity was more than adequate. My favorite detail is the way the alarm music fades up to the preset volume rather than scaring me awake. Only complaint is the pushbutton switch on the center knob used to turn the alarm off, which requires a little too much force to operate. This is a nicely designed product with all the necessary features without bring overly complicated. Sound quality is well above average as is overall build quality. Overall the best clock radio I've owned.

Sounds good too. Unit does have good AM/FM reception. Only 'buggy' thing about it is having to go through the menu of options to select things like sleep timer or presets - a simple button would be better & easier to use.
