I am able to carry almost all my music plus photos and video whereever I go. Even purchased one for my wife. Excellent MP3 Player. We both love them.
In short, after a few months of perfect sound and video the system simply locked up. This model is complimented with a brilliant color screen, crystal clear sound, SD card slot, FM radio, voice recorder and user friendly EQ. Once returned, the player worked for a awhile until the same evil gremlin raised its ugly head. After repeated attempts at resolving this problem with an almost non-existent customer support center, I was informed the item was no longer under warranty and that I would have to foot the bill for any future repairs. If it had not been for other problems raising their ugly head I could have easily overlooked the sticky and very cheap control pad.
The Creative Zen 16GB Mp3 Player would have been an outstanding purchase if it had only operated for at least one year before biting the dust. FM radio offers auto scan with 32 preset slots. All in all this WAS the perfect and probably the most complete player on the market.
Audio lasted for about 20 hours. No video, no music, no nada.Phone tech support with Creative Labs is not what it is cracked up to be.
Sending in the unit for diagnostics and repair was a month long ordeal with limited results at best. Coming out of the box, Creative Zen 16GB MP3 Player puts on quite an impressive show.
PIM function will allow for the syncing of calendar, appointments, etc; via Outlook. Like most models in this line, it only comes in black. This unit supports a vast array of WMA, WAV, ADPCM, Audible, MP3, AAC.
In video mode battery life clocked in at about 5 hours. Bottom line is, I am left with a very overpriced paper weight.
Nice look, nicer quality, good picture.Nice size memory, and then it fails. The player has and awesome expansion slt how cool.No it not its pretty useless as you can not use any option on the flash drive just the click and play.Look like a tad more work is needed on software, if they had nailedthat for the money know one would have come close.Stupid careless thing to do make and expanding drive thats pretty useless. For that it lost a 5 star to a three pity.
Not listed in the manual, not on their website. On and on it goes, for weeks. They want to force you into email tech support, which from previous experience with other companies, sucks. No thanks, Creative. They never actually read your email and understand the problem. So once you wait 3 days for a response, they tell you to do everything you already tried. I wanted one of these for quite awhile before finally deciding to buy one.
So I tried to contact Creative about this, only to find out that they don't have a tech support phone number listed anywhere. I was quite disappointed when I got it home. While it claims to support "subscription" services and protected WMA files, it would only sync to about 10 songs. I returned the Zen and will stick with Sansa who I have never had a problem with.
The Zen has the best screen,is the most customizable, is open to way more options than the nano. I decided to move away from Ipods because of the limiting nature of itunes as the primary method of music-device transfering. Worth a real long look.Zen:Pros: Screen Resolution/Size, Features/customizability, Expandibility options, traditional usb cable for transferringCons: Separate menus for mp3 player library and memory card, battery life worse than Fuze comparable to nanoOverall, all these mp3 are great competitors in the game. I also wanted to be able to add music on SD cards as the larger capacity ones become available.I compare this player to the Nano (3 and 4g) and the Sansa Fuze. You value style, name: Ipod NanoYou want the best value in an ipod look-alike with bonus features: Sansa FuzeYou want a good value player with bonus features and much customizability:Creative Zen.
If you dont take care of your mp3 players, the same wil happen to almost all MP3 players. Battery life less than fuze.Verdict: Gold Standard for design/media delivery. Disregard scratched screen issues. I am testing a 2gb version, however i am purchasing the available 16gb zen.And for any mp3 player you choose, if you plan on trying to keep it working as long as possible, a twenty dollar case would not be a bad investment. The Fuze is great however it is not as customizable and is only available up to 8gb rather than the Zen which can be had with up to 32 gb of internal space.
Fuze:Great mimic of Ipod 3g Nano, MicroSD expandable, ease of use, clickwheel design, tuner, size, valueCons: okay screen resolution, non traditional USB cable for charging transfering music, clickwheel durability questionableVerdict: Great overall player for the money, sleek design that rivals that of the Ipod nano Gen3. I wanted a new MP3 player with expandable memory, photo capability, fm tuner. Does its job very well. (If this Zen is still on sale when you read this and your trying to choose between this and the Fuze, choose the Zen).Cant wait to get my 16gb player in the mail.Dont be skeptical. Here is what I decided:Nano:Pros: Great design, quality durability, support for product while under warranty, screen resolutionCons: Itunes, transfering music limitations, no expandability, no tuner, screen size is bigger than necesary for music info but too small for video/photo.
Give the Zen a try, especially with the sale.
