Great player but it is $250 cheaper if you buy direct from LGI don't know how Amazon get away with this.
The LG has amazing upscaling using the QDEO engine, and rock solid firmware updates provided regularly by LG. They are keeping up with profile 1.1 releases right now, with a promise for 2.0 compatibility before they stop support for the player. I was an HD DVD buyer who had the Xbox 360 drive as my primary player, so when Blu-Ray won, there was no was I was gonna abandon my hi def library because of corporate greed. It plays every HD DVD and Blu-Ray disc I've thrown at it, with easy to navigate menus, and a slick exterior display. If you can't decide between blue and red, do what I did and choose purple. I picked this player over the Samsung BDUP5000, as it has much more reliable firmware, plus the 5500 was cancelled before release. You can find a ton of HD DVD releases at rock bottom prices now, instead of paying full markup for the Blu-Ray re-releases.
It was exactly as it was described. I have had no problems with my player. I am very happy with my new blueray hd dvd player by LG. Has a wonderful picture.
THIS ONE IS PERFECT AND THE PICTURE QUAULITY IS SUPPERB ON MY SONY LCD TV. I READ THE SPEC'S ON THIS PLAYER AND IT SOUNDED EXCELLENT AND WHAT I WANTED.NOW THAT I HAVE IT IT IS ALL I READ AND MORE.SINCE I HAVE BOTH HD AND BLU-RAY DVD'S I DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR TWO DIFFERENT UNITS. THE SOUND IS ALSO GREAT AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE.I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONEROCCO
I was not sent a new one that the way I was told - instead I was credited back. I would not be able to do a review on this as the one I received was bad and had to be returned. I was not told a new one would not be sent nor that I would be credited back. So, I still do not know how it would perform and I have DVD's that I can not watch.
