Editorial Reviews:

The 2nd generation CBX-300 CD receiver system is a blend of style, direct iPod integration and superb music performance. The focus has been on providing an accomplished mix of CD, MP3, WMA, iPod and radio playback. It sports a black saran net across the entire frontage, giving it greater appeal wherever you decide to place it. The CBX-300's construction supports exemplary audio fidelity, especially for the low-end frequencies. The design also incorporates speaker developments such as Onkyo's own OMF (Onkyo Micro Fiber) diaphragms and Aero Acoustic Drive technology. OMF is a pure, ultra-fine cotton weave that absorbs vibrations and enables a fast, accurate response. In addition to playing CDs, you can slot your iPod directly into the CBX-300's top-loading dock to access your AAC and MP3 files, podcasts, videos and photos. Unlike the bulk of music systems aimed at incorporating the iPod, this CD receiver system has been designed to deliver serious audio quality and lively music playback. The accompanying remote control gives you more functionality, such as the ability to skip through tracks or switch to shuffle mode. The CBX-300 also includes a video output terminal for output of your iPod's videos or photos. User Comments about the Onkyo CBX-300 CD Receiver System

I am no expert but all I can say is - It Delivers. Bass is more than adequate, and volume loud enough to fill a 25' x 20' room without any distortion. I was on the verge of buying a cambridge system for over $100 more, but thought I would give this a go based on the excellent reviews here and elsewhere. FM reception is great using the supplied indoor antenna. A real plus is the portability of the unit with the easy carry handle. Having owned a couple of sub $100 ipod speaker sets, I was a little apprehensive about the likely sound quality of this system that seems to promise a lot at a low price. Very, very pleased with this purchase.

I've put my old 3G iPod in the dock as well as my iPod Touch and they both work fine. This was the cheapest of the bunch and I've used and liked Onkyo products in the past. There are more expensive devices like this out there. Overall, this is a well designed box and the remote is easy to use.

I have no idea why you'd spend the extra bucks to buy one. That said, the sound here is more than adequate for listening in a bedroom.

No portable iPod player will do that. Onkyo states up front that the video out on this model is not compatible with iPod Touch videos, but the audio is completely compatible.

The ability to play mp3s from a CD is also a nice feature. I bought this item because I was looking for a multi-function iPod player with decent sound that I could sometimes use as an alarm clock.

You can only pack so much sound quality in a portable box plus the iPod music files often are 128 mp3s, which don't come close to having decent fidelity. I offer only one cautionary note.

Don't even think that this item will replace your home stereo. This item is definitely a best buy.

I use this unit for my IPOD and if the bass is not enough I just adjust the equalizer in my Ipod to boost up the bass. It all sounds great.

I love IPOD dock on the top of the unit and also the remote control for this unit also controls the IPOD. I also love the AM/FM tuner and the CD player as well.

Hi all, I just received this EXCELLENT product and can't stop talking about it. Plus it has a built in handle that makes it very easy to use as a portable devise.

I didn't want to spend hundreds more like some of the other popular docks/clock radio, so I gave this one a try. Glad I did, the sound is clear, crisp, and the bass adequate for me.

Bottom line, this product compares with the way more expensive units and at this price its a no brainer for me, I LOVE IT.Frank

Build quality, as with all Onkyo products I have owned, is top-notch. I could still use it as a clock radio, but I had to use the remote to snooze, which is a bit unnatural.

I will say that if you are looking for a bedside clock radio, look elsewhere, because the thing is large -- too large for a standard nightstand. I bought it for that purpose and realized that I had to put it across the room on my dresser because it was so large.

This is a tremendous value for the money. So I kept it as a bedroom CD player, and bought a standard clock radio to wake up to.

The sound is terrific, not too bass-heavy, very clear and powerful. I highly recommend it.

I am still thrilled with it and could not be happier.

It is nice to have a few quick EQ settings to adjust the sound if you need to. I put my 16gb iPod Nano in and the sounds is really clean and balanced. Onkyo has always made good products, but this thing is amazing. I was not prepared for how good this thing sounds. All my iTunes music is ripped at 320 kbps.
