The DS-A2x comes with an on-screen display mode (OSD) that enables you to view track lists, artists, albums, songs, genres, composers on your connected display for easy selection and navigation. If you have long lists on your iPod, you can use four page modes, Large, Medium, Small and Page, to move through the list in progressively larger steps. You'll have absolutely no need to handle your iPod while it's sitting in the DS-A2x as it comes with its own remote controller to control all basic playback functions. The remote controller also brings one-touch control for random shuffle playback over songs or albums, a resume function that will return to the track being played when the iPod is stopped or removed from the Dock and a repeat function for one track or all. You can also switch off the OSD to enjoy video playback via the DS-A2x's composite video output. I purchased this dock to allow me to play my itunes music on my home stereo and it is a nice addition to my system. It is sturdy and well built, does what it is supposed to.
as yet no luck and would seem that this is not poossible. Very poor interface and the on-scrteen graphics are from the 80's. I purchased this unit on the assumption that I could display video from my latest generation Nano to my TV. All in all very disapointed
Although the audio output seems a bit muffled, I'm not sure if it's the receiver of the dock that's at fault. Plus setup is snap out of the box - I literally just plugged it in, popped my iPod in and hit Play on the remote and off I went. I also haven't tried to watch video with it, so I have no feedback there. Works great with my Onkyo A/V receiver. The included remote works great with both and is very user-friendly. My goal was just to be able to play my iPod music through the living room receiver when I have people over. So far I've used my 1st Gen iPhone as well as my old iPod nano with no problems. Works great for me.
Video kind of sucks. Great sound out of this device. OSD is old looking.
when it suddenly changed the charging system that worked on ALL previous models of iPod and iTouch: suddenly I've got a bunch of products like AM/FM Alarm Clock docking station, and AM/FM portable speaker unit for the iPod/iTouch, and stereo receiver connected docking pod, ALL of which now don't charge the newest iTouch.It's like Apple expects that you can throw out all your expensive electronic accessories that you bought for your iPod/iTouch every time you upgrade iPod/iTouch to a newer model. how crazy is that.Anyway, this is the worst Onkyo device I've ever seen, due to it's onscreen graphics and so-so audio output to the receiver. In case anyone is wondering, it DOES charge the newest iTouch (Gen2) models, unlike many other high-end docking products out there (and in my home.). I love onkyo products, generally, and have been buying them for fifteen years. But this one is a dud.There are other iPod/iTouch adapters out there from other manufacturers that are much better than this one. Apple dropped the ball (again). And its price is outrageous.
