The Echo SIR-WRS1 repeater and receiver unit are about the size of an Altoid mint tin but thinner and installation takes about five minutes. I wasn't enthusiastic about running the antenna cable through the wall. After about two months of use everything is still working fine and I no longer have a cable strung along my hardwood flooring (a tripping hazard for sure). SIRIUS Echo SIR-WRS1 Home signal repeater for SIRIUS Satellite radiosI've had Sirius radio for a few years and love it a lot but found that my house is not positioned in the best place to receive the satellite signal. I bought this unit because my stereo receiver is placed in the center of my house and not near a window or door. The repeater unit has a short power cable so it needs placement near an outlet, it's only real restriction. There's only one location where I can place the antenna for reception and that required leaving the cable strung along an open, hardwood floor. I would buy this product again or make sure my next house faces Sirius satellites.
I returned it for a refund. Simply does not work. It doesn't work. Oh well.
I can now locate my radio anywhere in my home, including the second story and the garage. I installed the repeater in my basement, attached to a Sirius Outdoor Antenna (highly recommended). I've had my repeater for about a month now and I like it. Before I purchased the repeater I would have to locate the radio near a window so the direct attached antenna could receive a signal. You may have to play with the antenna on the receiver a bit for best reception or move the receiver an inch this direction or the other, but the product does work.
This is typical garbage Sirius hardware. How can they have such good content and such inferior equipment. I can't wait for the merger so I can buy some real gear. Does not even work a little bit. I should have just set 100 bucks on fire. Stay away from this product.
The transmitter and receiver are both very small and extremely lightweight. It works as advertised. This product is a breeze to set up. You won't even need to look at the directions. The receiver gets its power from the satellite radio, so you only need to plug it into the radio.
