User Comments about the Toshiba HD-D2 HD DVD Player Plays HD DVD's (Including Twin Format), DVD & DVD-R/-RWPlayback Via HDMI - 720P or 1080i

If you do not have HDMI on your reciever this is not the player for you.Images was great and after playing the 1st HD-DVD with it my wife commented on what a how clear the picture was. My only dislike of the player was the time to open the dvd tray when 1st powering on the unit. This player produces as expected. It takes approx. 30 sec. The lack of multichannel analog output doesn't limit me as I use the HDMI to my receiver. Great price for HD-DVD

The DVD quality looks so great, you'll want to keep this one around even if Blu-ray emerges the winner. If you have Netflix, you can rent from a full library of HD titles. Right now there is no excuse not to buy a Toshiba HD-A2 or HD-D2 player (which are practically the same with the exception of their names). Even if used as just an upconverting player, the D2 does a fantastic job outdoing the Samsung upscaling DVD player that it replaced. But with this player getting such a sweet price point, and getting to experience a few killer titles in true HD, blu-ray has a lot to be nervous about.
