This Is An Excellen Product If you are want to have a basic sound for any portable device (let's Face It if you want louder get a hi fi system) i recomend it cause it gives excellent performance on standard conditions.
This speaker was fairly easy to use, even though I am technologically challenged, but I was very disappointed in the amount of sound it produced. I could barely hear the audiobook I was trying to listen to.
They are not for you if you want the "blast the boom box" sound. Ours came with a usb adapter.
To listen to around the table while you chat with your friends, they are perfect. The price is great - especially for young children.
-Baught one in barbados to share ipod music with a group of friends. If you shop around you can get a good price on a usb wall adapter.
The sound quality deteriorated when the batteries went low (more than 12 hours if you use good quality new batteries). I was pleasantly surprised at how well the speakers worked.
Perfect size for travel.
When it is plugged in, the sound is very quiet. If you buy it, get it from a brick and mortar store. The speakers only worked when plugged in--not when using batteries--which is kind of important when looking for a portable speaker. Amazon returns are not worth the aggravation over a $10 item.
The product that received was used about 4hrs and then started to crackle and pop while playing off of an ipod. I let it cool for 30min and now it plays well on 20min cycles of playing and cooling. The form factor is good and would be an excellent product if the audio quality did not degrade with usage. Mine is going to the Salvation Army shortly.Unfortunately I don't have any experience with other models in the same cost bracket.Good luck.
