I do not have anything negative to say, I just wish it had more fiber and hdmi ports. It was relatively cheap and does exactly what it says it does. Like I said though, it does exactly what it says.
this receiver is perfect for the money--sound is awesome--with the hdmi wires only one wire is needed--a big plus for me is the a/b switch that allows me to have music playing in the backyard while someone can watch tv inside.highly recommend
i'm not an audio techy but this onkyo amp/receiver does everything i need at a great price.and amazon had it here to me on maui in a few days.i was amazed thanks amazon
I have yet to have any issues with the unit, and I am very happy with my purchase. Yes, there is some confusion about HDMI audio, but I knew what I was getting considering the price level of this receiver. Is it the best on the market.
I have used the receiver quite a bit in the past 3 months since anytime I play videos games or watch rented movies it has to be on with my current setup. Of course not, but I think it is the best at this price level. I bought this receiver after purchasing (& returning) a Sony receiver that was broken right out of the box.
I found the setup to be quite easy, and I used HDMI and optical cables. I have never owned an Onkyo until this one, and I have been impressed. I primarily needed it to use with my HD-DVD player (replaced with a PS3) and my Xbox 360.
If you have $800-$1500 I'm sure you do a lot better, but if you just need a basic home theater receiver, I can recommend this unit.
It is very simple to setup and use, and the capability of 7.1 makes it fill my living room with sound. If you use your TV for sound then you shouldn't be buying a receiver anyway. This is the best of the below $300 models out there. You need to understand it won't pull sound from hdmi, so you have to pull a fiber line from each source for sound. I think it is well worth the price.
