I listen primarily to acoustic Jazz, have pretty "picky" ears and have no complaints. Does it sound like a high-end component system. No, but I don't expect it to, either. I don't know what other reviewers' expectations are re: sound quality but I've found this unit sounds quite good, providing one uses well- recorded/mastered cd's. Poor-sounding cd's will not be magically improved or enhanced by this unit. I am an old fart and use it just to play cd's-- I don't have any experience with iPods, Mp3's or any other newfangled sources.
It sounds ok for fm, but when you play cd's or mp3's the tinny bass deficient and distorted sound are unbearable. I agree with the first reviewer about the functionality, but the unit is acoustically awful. I cannot recommend it even though I had high hopes.
Portable boombox2. [Minor complaint] CD loader is a tray that comes out like on a computer. You have to remember to turn it on before you sit down across the room. And you cant leave it on all the time either because of its energy saving shutdown feature.2. Will play my stacks of mp3 CDs3. Sort of slow but its OK.Everything else is perfect in every way.
Thats OK, but it sure isnt as nice to go to your favorite AM or FM stations by hitting the forward and back buttons and cycling through all 25 presets. No power button on the remote. They got rid of the preset buttons in favor of a sleeker look. Would rather have the first 6 as hard keys (like in a car stereo).3.
AM antenna reception could be better.4. Sleek & shiny black casing looks real slick and nice but it also shows fingerprints and dust alot.5. This is the only product on the market that fit 3 simple requirements I had:1. This is a biggie.
Will dock my ipod and play songs from the boombox controls.Didnt think that was alot to ask but this really is the only product of its kind. Works great and would have gotten 5 stars if not for following flaws:1. Love this thing and highly recommend it if you can get over the issues above.
