Editorial Reviews:

Play and record on both VHS tapes and DVDs with the Samsung DVD-VR330 VCR Combined DVD Recorder. In addition to providing a 4-head Hi-Fi VCR, this far- from-basic model offers the flexibility of Full Multi Format Recording (R A M / + / - RW/+/-R); the response of "1sec." Quick Recording; and the practicality of Dual Layer Recording on +R or -R only DVD discs.

User Comments about the Samsung DVD-VR330 DVD Recorder

It won't recognize any dvd I burned on it and it won't even play store bought dvd's anymore. It just says the dvd is loading forever and then kicks the dvd out. I have to agree with all the other 1 star reviews. It will play a dvd sporatically but good luck getting it to work. The recording capabilities were good and easy to use but what is the point if you can't watch these dvd's just 2 years later from a crappy product. I purchased this player exactly 2 years ago and now it is nothing more than a piece of junk. Don't buy it, I hope to spare someone else $200 and buy a quality product instead.

It gives a disc initialization error, it malfunctions when playing a DVD. This model is now only good for playing mp3 and music CDs and VHS tapes, neither function is what I bought this for. I think just at a year it stopped working entirely for the DVD playing/recording side. I got probably 5 DVD recordings before this function stopped working. This unit lasted less than a year with moderate use and I most likely will stay away from Samsung electronics from now on.

I am sorry I did. Do not buy. This unit rejects 2 out of every 3 disks. The record quality is poor. Their TVs are great, but whoever designed this deck should be fired.

I already have this recorder and needed a second one and went out of my way to find it. Easy programming, clear recordings and a sharp picture through it's tuner. I have not used the VCR side though.

After all, why would a major company like Samsung produce a machine that all of a sudden stopped working after a year. I just bought a new non-name brand recorder, that will probably be much much better. At first I thought the DVDs themselves might be faulty and even threw several out. And waited. So I waited. I lost everything. At any rate, when the movie was over I got the usual message after I pressed the stop button to wait.

And waited. I bought a whole box set produced by 20th Century Fox, but can I watch any of them on this machine. Usually after 30 seconds or so the message disappears, but this one was on for literally 15 minutes. I had to unplug the damn thing and then it came back as a blank disc. I could not shut the machine off or press stop. It's this machine that is truly damaged). I have just been reading up on a lot of the other customer reviews here and it's now at least I know it's not me.Like many others, mine worked for about a year (of course the time of the warranty) and then began not being able to read recordable DVDs.

No.I just burned a 2.5 hour movie from VHS to DVD+R (sometimes the plus-r's will not "initialize" correctly because they are "damaged" Bull. Several movies I had to watch on my laptop b/c it would not play.I could finally, at times, get some of the discs to work, but literally after trying 15 or 20 times. Then they started not working for a lot of pre-recorded discs as well, and even discs I made on this very machine. Tomorrow Samsung goes into the garbage and hopefully my new machine will never give me this problem. To hell with Samsung and all of their products.
