Editorial Reviews:

Sylvania's four-head Hi-Fi VCR is a stereo VCR, featuring MTS (Multichannel Television Sound), VHS recording and playback, 8-event programmable recording timer with one-touch timer recording, and onscreen menu display. This VCR's four head design results in greater picture quality than VCRs with just two heads, and its automatic head cleaners remove dirt and contaminants every time you insert or remove a cassette, particularly beneficial if you view rented movies. The 6260VF lets you freeze frame, view in slow motion, and advance frame by frame, and gives you two search speeds (5x and 15x) when viewing tapes recorded in SLP (super long play) mode. Digital tracking lets you search for a specific point on the tape either by time or index, with a real-time onscreen counter. The VCR is capable of playing an SAP (secondary audio program) track with compatible bilingual/simulcast broadcasts or recordings, and its onscreen menus can be displayed in different languages. Its 181-channel, direct-access tuner can accommodate up to 125 cable channels and offers the convenience of automatic channel programming. This VCR also features front panel stereo A/V inputs so game consoles or digital cameras can be easily connected. RF, composite-video, and stereo audio inputs and outputs are also located on the rear.

User Comments about the Sylvania 6260VF 4 Head VCR

i will order again in the future. The product is working good and the time for me to get the product was great. Ken Girty

We needed a VCR and this fit what we needed. It's simple, compact & efficient.

The instructions are vague and you have to fuss with it intuitively (I'm not good at this and get frustrated)to make it do some of it's more "complicated" feats, but work it does. Despite the Sam's Club price that made me think it would break in a month, this video player/recorder has now lasted two years of basement kid's movie playing - which during the winter can be daily. For the price, you can't beat it.

As the others mentioned. As long as it doesn't break shortly after purchase I recommend getting this. (Magnavox) After calling every store in town and searching the internet I was still not able to find one. I did not give it the full five stars due to the instructions and manual. It was a display model. The back is all plastic, remote cheapy looking but no big issue. Brought it home. Main purpose was to be able to play my old VHS tapes and to record programs.

(who looks at remotes anyway and as long as they work that is all that matters. Well I bought a display and that was the only one. (either lazy or don't wish to bother checking stock or don't consider display as stock) One store told me they don't sell displays (even if its the only one.). I already have a DVD player so only wanted a VCR stand alone.

Played my tape and it ran fine. You didn't even have to look in the manual for operating. I asked if they had the manual and the remote and after checking I got the box and all that was inside. The setup is the only issues I have as the manual is very vague and what would seem logical isn't. Check yourself. Some clerks will tell you they have no product when there actually is. The front looks okay (no clock) and inside my center blends well. I am persistant and do not take calls to stores as final word.

My own vcr finally bit the dust. Tried to record and that passed the test and so I guess for the money its a keeper. I was spoiled as it was a no brainer and so easy to operate. Picture quality and sound no complaints either. Since they are being fazed out to find one on the market consider yourself lucky. I did manage to find one in Kmart. I paid 49.99 for mine same prices as on line but those were being sold as refurbished and then you would have to pay shipping so since I did not wish to go more than 50.00 I'm happy.

PAR.Issue #3The instruction manual is pretty sketchy. I got it to replace a rather expensive Sony VCR that gave faithful, quality service under heavy, daily usage for at least 5 years. At the price, I have no problem with just buying another one. I am still trying to figure out how to use the program-search feature.

So what else is new. Grant. Certainly, the 'extended' warranty is a waste of money; when it craps-out, just by another one. I keep pressing the wrong, doggone button. However, I have yet to ever see a VCR manual that is complete and easy to understand.

However, this is not unlike the old Sony, so PAR for this issue.Issue #2Lightweight, plastic, cheap, Made-in-China quality. It barely weighs more than a bag of movie theater popcorn.

PAR.Issue #4How long will it last. Judging by the hard, mechanical 'klunk' of the various relays in this VCR, I suspect that it's lifespan is better measured in months rather than years.

So what. I got this thing on closeout for about a Ulysses S.

The footprint of this thing on the shelf is barely half of the Sony. I tried really hard to hate this thing, or find a reason to return; not.

I have to admit that it is fully capable, budget VCR with no untoward habits, so I am forced (reluctantly) to give it top rating.Issue #1The menus are hard to set up, the instruction manual only of marginal use, and you will take a lot of trial and error to figure out how to set up the menus. BIRDIE.
