However, if you read the details on the back it implies the bass boost is because of the efficiency of the closed design not because of any special technology. I thought I'd share my results as a response to some of the comments I read. When I first put them on the music did indeed sound like it was underwater and all treble. You can't really see them in the pictures here. In other words, the bass production is probably the same as their open headphones on a technical level.
They do advertise good bass on the front of the package. Depsite the comments about lack of bass and such as there were good comments too and I figured I could always return them. Its a clever design that allows the cans to not be strained when you move your head around because they're basically on a joint that rotates pretty far. Apparently these headphones need to be broken in a little. They are comfortable enough for me and stay secure even without the ear hooks.
I suggest playing them at medium volume for 20-ish minutes before even putting them on for the first time. As for the weak bass, it sounds fine now.
I have noticed if I don't fit them right when I put them on that after I take them off it'll feel like they were pinching my ear the whole time, but that goes away after a minute. They do look delicate and easy to break, but on closer inspection they seem pretty solid.
I do worry about the thin wires that go to the cans though. After searching around and reading reviews I decided on giving these headphones a shot.
That's when the sound started getting better for me. For at least the first few songs.
Then it started clearing up and now they sound fine. Overall I recommend these headphones.
But considering the price, the sound is very good. Putting them on and taking them off is a little awkward with the strange ear hook things, but I guess I'll get used to that. If bass is real important to you, these are not your headphones. I'm satisfied with my purchase.
These things are great. The bass response is awesome and the treble is crystal clear. The first time I purchased this was on a clearance rack and I just picked them up to run with while I had my Ipod. I would recommend these for anyone looking for a great set of headphones for a great price.
It sounds less bass-heavy than the PMX 100, but it has stronger midrange and high presence. The only issues I have with it is the flimsy appearance and uncomfortable fit for long durations. The PMX 200 sounds incredibly clear. Overall they are excellent headphones in terms of sound quality.
It does not produce the full base response you get from the in ear products senheiser makes, but I purchased these to wear during lawn work and walking. These are perfect for any physical activity. Very Good product. They sound good and they stay on.
