User Comments about the Philips MCM275 Flat Wall-Mountable Shelf System

The MP3 functionality worked perfectly the first time with both CD's and a flash drive. The only major drawback is that the "random" function doesn't seem to work in MP3 mode, so we always have to listen to the songs in the same order. We are very happy with this system so far. Other than that, the system looks and sounds great.

Can I give a 0 Star. A piece of Junk, stopped working after 1 week.

The motor doesn't have enough power to pull/down the door for add/remove CD's from it.Was cool looking when it was working, over time it will just be a paper weight. Also the sound was very low quality and the remote is difficult to use (yes that's true).A large majority of Philips/Magnavox products are crappy quality and poor warranty support. I have used this product for only a few months and it has already stopped working normally. Stay away.

It has two "off" modes, one that is really a standby (with a lighted display) and the other that is the power-saving mode (with no display) that draws almost no power (less than a watt). I was very happy that I was able to set it up so that it would both turn off manually and automatically into the power-saving mode, and that the remote still works in even the power-saving mode. I purchased this because I needed a small stereo for my bedroom for playing music to go to sleep by that would shut itself off automatically after playing a CD. I did not buy this stereo for the remote, but the remote has proved to be very handy, as I can easily operate the stereo without getting out of bed.The sound is good and everything works great. My only tiny complaint is that when the stereo is on, its display is really too bright for a bedroom (I had to cover the display with a Post-It note). I was particularly interested in this model because it was Energy-Star rated, and so wouldn't be a vampire that sucked electricity when it was "off." (The CD player I was previously using would not turn itself "off" automatically after playing a CD, and drew about 8 watts of power even when it was "off").I have been using this for about a month and am completely satisfied. But in all other respects, this system beautifully delivers what I need.

Item looks good on wall but does not have the greatest sound quality and seems to be a bit cheaply built. For the money I would get a nice shelf unit.
