It doesn't charge (it does play though). as was stated in the description. This would have worked great if it had worked with my ipod touch-2nd generation. Hopefully they will change the description so that customers don't have to go through the hassle of returning items.
In just a few minutes, I had everything set up and mastered the simple operations. An added advantage is that I no longer have to take my laptop with me to charge my iPod when traveling places where I wouldn't normally take my computer.
I have driven through moderately-sized US cities in Kentucky (Lexington and Louisville) and had no problem finding clear channels to use (although I did have a change a few times). I am eager to try the advice of others about using the IN Mode.
For the record, I am a bit of a technological lightweight, so all I can speak to is my experience using this device. Even if not being used to play through the car's stereo system, the adaptor still provides the second feature of charging the device.
I have the very common 4GB Nano and wanted this device so I could listen to audio books on long road trips. So far, it was been a wonderful experience.
This is a great device and has worked perfectly for me. I live just outside the DC area and have no problems with reception.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the key with this FM transmitter is to use it in international mode (IN) and set to 87.9. It will not set to 87.9 if you do not put it in IN mode.
I've tried many FM transmitters in the past and found them to be a waist of time and money. Also, as an FM transmitter, it will work with the new ipod touch 2G, but will not charge.
I was therefore skeptical, but desperate to be able to play my ipod in the car while commuting to work. Wow, I am so glad I took the plunge.
Still worth it to me.
Works great, all I have to do unscrew my antena off the car so I can get no static.
Easy to use out of the box. This product is an exceptional buy, works great. No complaints.
