User Comments about the Fisher SLIM 1510 Stereo Mini System SILVER

It does have a couple of problems, though, the main one being installation as a wall-mountable system. You also have the option of running it off of batteries instead of AC, but I really wouldn't recommend that if you're wall-mounting -- too much trouble to unmount and remount when you have to replace the batteries. I would have no qualms about buying it as a stand-mounted system. I tried from every angle possible and then finally removed the bracket from the wall (partially unscrewed the screws), attached the console to the bracket, then hung it altogether.

However, now that it's on the wall, I'm quite happy with it. I also recommend that you put the unit together before you hang it so you can test it before going through the hassle of mounting it. They give you a bracket to screw into the wall and then you hang the stereo console from the bracket. You couldn't connect the speakers and conceal the wires otherwise. The controls are easy to figure out, and the remote is user friendly. One odd thing I've noticed is that the LED readout is hard to read from certain angles. I purchased this through a wholesale store and paid less than $100.

The stereo has all kinds of bells and whistles that I'll never use. P.S. And it's a very attractive design -- I like the way it looks on the wall. The wall-mountable feature was a primary selling point. If you want to have the speakers attached to the console in a wall-mount setup, you definitely have to attach them prior to hanging. If you're using this unit as your clock, that would be important to you. I'm not sure I would recommend it as your primary stereo, but I'm happy with it as my office stereo.

The wall installation was difficult enough that if I had known about it prior to selecting this stereo, I might have picked another one. It is playing my CD-Rs with no problem and picking up even weaker radio signals perfectly. The sound is very good for a compact unit, although if you're someone who likes a lot of bass, you won't be happy with this. I want to say up front that I do like this stereo.

I've got the bass adjusted all the way up, and I'm satisfied, but I'm not a bass-head. I'm using this as my second stereo in my home office. Aside from that inconvenience, this really is a nice system. Sounded easy enough, but since the bracket is almost flush against the wall, it's *very* difficult to match up the bracket with the hanger slot on the stereo.

To screw the bracket back into the wall with the stereo hanging on it, you'll need a ratchet. I'm not sure I think it's worth $133, which was Amazon's price when I bought it.
