Of course I hooked up a subwoofer in order to get deep enough bass. This is more than adequate and the overall package is a perfect match for a bedroom.
There is a dedicated output for this which is quite nice. Regarding the video performance the options are composite/s-video/component (progressive 480p).
I bought this micro system almost two years ago and I must admit I have nothing but praise for it. There are a number of bells and whistles which is typical of JVC but they are by no means a distraction from real features missed.
It is extremely small (both the dvd and the speakers) but very well made and feels anything but cheap. The sound from the speakers is crisp and surprisingly good considering they are one way speaker system.
The device is very complete and of a high quality.
