Doesn't close as easily as it might. Also, be aware that this unit generates heat. I'm a little concerned about the CD door. It can warm up a room, noticably. The remote could be better designed, too.
Now I have two with the remote control and two without. I liked my first TEAC SL-D80 that I bought a couple of years ago so much that I've purchased three more since. For the price, they have excellent sound and who wouldn't like a radio that looks like the grille of an old-skool truck.
And the sound is better than expected, producing decently deep bass. You can view the time for four seconds by pressing a button, but you can't make the unit display the time steadily unless you turn the radio/cd off.
For me, though, there was one problem that led to my returning the unit: When the radio is on, the station is displayed instead of the time. And it can't be changed.
I bought this unit to use as a great-sounding clock radio. While getting ready for work and listening to the radio, keeping an eye on the time is key for me.
And it fits the bill--almost. First of all, the design is great if you like retro.
So, the hunt continues.
