Editorial Reviews:

The Pioneer DVR-225-S Pure Cinema Home DVD Recorder lets you build a home DVD collection. The sleek recorder plays DVD Video discs, DVD-R/-RW discs and CDs. It also displays JPEG files and plays MP3s.

The DVD player features progressive scan output. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts.

The player provides Dolby Digital and virtual surround. Connect the unit to your home theatre for great sound. In addition to standard composite a/v outputs, you can use the S-Video or component video out with newer TVs for superior image quality.

The unit also functions as a CD player, with program play, random play, skip and search functions. You can play standard audio CDs, as well as MP3 and WMA files, making it a truly versatile media player. The player includes a remote control.

If you're looking to explore the world of DVRs, the Pioneer DVR-225-S should make for an easy entry.

User Comments about the Pioneer DVR-225-S Pure Cinema Home DVD Recorder

But I was wrong. I guess it gave me several years of good service, just be nice if things would last. Bought this in late 1994 or early 1995. I opened it up, 2 of the capacitors were bad on the power supply. I might even try to fix it myself. Paid a little extra thinking name brand would last longer. Nice when it works, but bad caps for the long haul.

It's a great piece of equipment and worth the money. I just started to use this DVD recorder and it is simple to setup, the controls are easy to use and like a VCR, you are able to record up to 6 hrs. I believe the VCR in a near future it's going to be a thing of the past.

I purchased this DVD recorder for my son and he loves it.Well worth the price.

Read the owner's manual, learn how the features work and you'll be very happy. If you want to record DVD's that play in every player, then you need this Pioneer. My other experience was with a Samsung and believe me when I say there is no comparison.

Controls are simple and in many ways it is superior to using a VCR. This product is very easy to use, right out of the box. It's easier to look on a disc and see what was recorded, to go to any part of it, and the picture quality is superb.
