The dual cassette deck does not have independent controls, nor auto-reverse, but with the high-tech functionality, they are controlled and operated with ease. Even the AM (and FM) radio reception, with the provided antenna, is amazingly clear, in comparison to my previous audio system. This audio system is exactly what I needed for playing MP3 CDs, a dual cassette deck for copying cassette tapes, and great sound quality for recording audio onto my PC (carefully connecting speaker outputs to microphone input of PC). Although the buttons on the front of the audio system appears confusing at first, starting each audio function is as easy as pushing one button. Even if the audio system is off, all you have to do is simply push the appropriate button on either the audio system, or on the high quality remote control, and the selected function will automatically begin to play with the last settings used. The high shipping and handling charge was surprising, but the package was so well packed, that it took 5 minutes just to get to the actual audio system itself, which assured me that it should be in great condition, which it was.Overall, I am very satisfied, and my family and children are also enjoying this high quality audio system. It also has the ability to record CDs onto a cassette tape with practically a single push of a button. The CD and MP3 function plays CD-R CDs with amazing clarity and smooth functionality. There are still more features that I haven't even checked out yet, but when I do, the manual is very well written and easy to follow.
But, I already paid for it, so I hooked it up rather than give in to my cynical attitude toward consumer electronics. The sound was surprising, especially after the speakers were "broken in" (audio experts attest speakers sound better after a few weeks of use). I'm an "oldies" freak and they never sounded better, either CD, FM or through internet radio (aux input = my computer audio out). This unit serves as my home stereo, as I live in a studio apartment with limited room. When I unpacked the unit, I was skeptical, because it didn't seem solidly built and had that "Coby" or "ElectroBrand" cheap look to it. Overall, I am very satisfied with the JVC, but since the housings (unit and speakers) are somewhat "not robust," I would not suggest toting it around.
I have to keep the volume down in the house. Just got this unit and I think it's awsome. With 360 watts this unit is great for an outdoor party.I'm sure there are better units out there, but not for this price.
Given the inexpensive price paid I was willing to accept a lower qulaity product, but was pleasantly surprised by the high quality sound of the JVC sterio system. While it looks like little more than a portable boom box, it is our home stereo system and fills the house with a loud, crisp, clear sound equal to much more expensive units.I highly recommend it.
