The Timex T617S offers accurate auto-set timekeeping, CD and radio playback, stereo speakers, onboard nature sounds, and an external audio input. The unit's stately silver finish and translucent CD door add visual touches of class, and its versatile CD playback modes include repeat and random play. Once plugged in, the clock will set itself, drawing on its factory installed 100-year calendar. The clock will even self-adjust for Daylight Savings time and leap years. It features a programmable sleep mode with independent sleep volume to select 15, 30, 60, or 90 minutes. Drift to sleep or wake to your choice of a favorite radio station, a favorite CD track, or any of the unit's 4 nature sounds. The T617S's 2 alarms each function independently, so both can be set for either the same or different wake signals. For radio listening, you'll enjoy drift-free digital phase-locked-loop PPL tuning with 12 preset stations for 1-touch tuning convenience for your favorites (6 FM, 6 AM). The radio basically stopped working on the first one after a year; reception was 'so so'. Sound is also so so, but it's an inexpensive radio so what do you expect. Again I really like the wakeup sounds. I like this for the wakeup sounds. This is the 2nd one of these we had within 2 years. The first radio:I have managed to get the radio to work on the first one by repeatedly removing all power.
Having two alarms is a nice option. I like the option of radio/CD/line in jack for mp3/ipod players. I can wake up more gently with the radio/CD then have the buzzer go off when I have tog et up. Because of it's upright design, the Timex does not take up as much space on the night stand as other models. Once mastered, it works very smoothly. Overall, I recommend the Timex. It takes a little working with the instructions to figure your way around the buttons and settings. Especially for the price.
The first clock arrived broken (volume control didn't work). The 2nd clock broke with a year of extremely light use (LED display stopped functioning). While this clock has lots of good features, the quality is extremely poor. Would never buy again.
This is a good, solid CD clock radio and easy to hook our Zune mp3 players up to. You can set the alarm to wake up to normal alarm noises (i.e. We have had this alarm clock/cd player for over two years now and still love it. ridiculously annoying but effective), the radio, or nature sounds. I'm actually buying a second one for my office for the clock/cd/mp3 line-in features. We especially like the fact that you can set two different alarm times on it, and the sound is surprisingly good. Definitely a good purchase and highly recommended.
Big buttons make it easy to operate in dim light. The only problem we've had is that it doesn't seem to want to play burned discs. On the other hand, we can work around that because the unit has an MP3 connector. We bought this for our baby's room so we can play music for him to go to sleep. The blue light doesn't bother him and the unit has plenty of functions (although we rarely use the nature sound feature). In all, a fine product and good value.
