For the price, you can't beat the quality of these knives. We were very pleased on how the knives looked when they came out of the box.they are serrated which allows for great cutting (double serrated, so lefties are able to cut just as well :) but will be difficult to sharpen in the future. It's still not the greatest.but it definitely does it job and we plan on using them for a few years.
This set has 'em all. Very interesting. I only need a knife that cuts well. I tested some of the other larger knives and each did an excellent job. I was skeptical at first and wanted a Wustof or Shun but the prices are well beyond my budget or need. Buy again. For example, I had a 5 pound ham that just begged to be cut.
Out came the enclosed santoku and wow what a clean job. Please read Sam's review if you want the details. But if you do not want to read a lot and need a set of really good and inexpensive knives, this is a first consideration. No, not Laugh In interesting but interesting. His details hit each item of importance. You betcha and I'm do not live near Minnesota.
They look marvelous, but more importantly these are sharp. I'm sure there are sharper knives out there that hold an edge longer, but for the price these are great. My first thought on holding one of these knives is how great the balance felt in my hand. I am very happy with these knives so far. I paid a little extra to have the metal finish, and it's totally worth it. Slicing through raw meat, or cooked food is relatively easy and requires little sawing.
For the Price they're OK.When you washed several times they tend hoy have a rusted appereance.
If you ever notice on the cooking shows the chefs always wipe there knives off straight away after use on there apron. They are strong sharp and heavy. The one thing I always do with knives and will always do is right after use I wash and dry them and repalce them back into there slot. Or if rust appears for sure. SO I have people over often and these are exactly what I needed to add to my work space. However I have had these only a month and they are pefect everytime. I would hate to have mine rust becasue I did not take care of them right.
I mean you can always clean them with bar tender cleaner once in a while. I am so happy with these knives. I love to cook and most of what I cook is from scratch. They cut so well and are so nice looking sitting on my counter. I have had people go right to them and comment. Take care of your stuff what ever it is and it will take care of you.
