Bought this for my sister on Christmas and she really loves it. She spends alot of time in traffic and this certainly keeps her entertained.
If you find one of theses, snap it up. I have tried a newer version, but I keep looking for the older versions. While this is an older version, I prefer it. It is easier to install and works out great for me. I do.
Excellent. Based on other reviews, this is the best receiver of the bunch.
What we got was unusable unless one already had a boom box (another $100.00+ expenditure). While we really like our second Sirius Satellite Radio Receiver, we were not so pleased with the seller which/who neglected to let us know that we would have to buy the hook up equipment separately. We happened to have a boom box which we had been using with our first receiver, and so we have a permanent receiver now with the boom box, but we had wanted it for our truck.
The pins from the socket on the inside of the unit wore down and the audio started cutting in and out. I switched to a home based unit (SR-H550) to make MP3s of my favorite shows. The main board has a socket that takes pins from the extranal socket that fits the docking stations. NPR is on FM for the drive to and from work anyway. So, if you're going to buy this type of unit expect it to wear out after a couple years of taking it between the house and car every day. My wife leaves hers in the car, so she's fine. Sirius radio content is great.
I've had the SIR-PNP2 since January 2004 the unit died February 2006. I like the fact that the Audiovox docks in the house and car. Except for the fact that it got hot, it performed very well. The SR-H550 sounds better and doesn't get even get warm.
