User Comments about the Escort Windshield Suction Cup Mount for Radar and Laser Detectors

By morning the clear cups look white, but when they dry out they turn clear again and work like brand new for another few months. When I read this I noticed this model wasn't mentioned so I was a little concerned this model was omitted from the list on purpose. I just leave them in a cup of hot tap water over night. The less you stick and unstick these suction cups the longer they hold as well. The description should also warn people though, some states, like California for one have laws against any suction cups being mounted on your windshield. When this does happen to me I don't even boil mine in water. If you live in such a state you may want to opt for the more expensive mirror mount or the visor mount instead. Making sure your windshield is clean before sticking them on helps significantly as well.I bought the additional mounts listed here because I use my detector in multiple vehicles.

It's always a pain resticking and rebending a single mount to get it to work in different vehicles, for this cheap price I can now have a mount in each of my vehicles. The description does not mention that this also works with the 9500i and 9500ix Escort detectors. This is never a good feeling when it happens. At this cheap price though I figured it was worth taking a chance, turns out it is the identical mount that comes with your 9500i detector. There are better mounting options available, the Escort visor mount works with the 9500i as well, makes for a solid mount, just difficult to access the buttons and some people may experience GPS connectivity problems if mounted directly at the roof of your vehicle (though I haven't had any problems). There's another company that makes a mount that attach's directly to your rear view mirror that works very well, it's just a little pricey for what you actually get.I have been annoyed by after a period of time the suction cups popping loose and your $500 detector goes crashing into the dash and onto the floor while you're driving down the road. You can search "countryjoycrafts" to find the better, but far more expensive mirror mounting option.

What a pain to have to keep buying these cups that only last for a short time. If I did not pay so much for my cordless radar detector I would have thrown it out a long time ago. They need to come up with a better way of mounting the detectors so you do not need to keep coming back for this accessory, or maybe that is what they want.

Unable to determine what shipped with the radar dector the ad made it seem as if you needed the suction cups to connect to windshield. Advertisement lead one to believe that those purchasing the Escort Radar Dectector also purchase the windshield suction cups to connect it to windsheild. Fact is they come as part of the original purchase and are a waste of money.

These work well until they begin to wear out ,then the radar detectorwill fall as they lose their grip. It's about ayear that they last and others have tried velcro but it melted and never came off from the dash soooountil something else comes along this is the best out there.

I was going to order a new one to see if it improved things, but the reviews her made me think twice. Then I found an aftermarket mount at southerncarparts dot com. It's a bit more expensive but looks solid and worth the extra cost. I have the Escort 8500 model which includes this suction mount. The mount constantly falls off my windshield. It looks like the mounts that come with GPS systems.
