It can be hung on drywall with its unique pin device making it easy to layout the established height. It is being used to install suspended ceiling. Shipped on time as promised. Took it to work (volunteer church construction) the next day. I am very pleased with the product and its price.
A real time saver also. Have used this tool frequently since I bought it. Highly useful, highly accurate, and a professional tool. Sure beats the old fashioned carpenter's level.
There's a hanging loop on the top and the bracket that comes with the unit has a vertical adjustment of about 4". The brightness is marginal outside in daylight at 10' but its useable early or late in the day. For the price, this is a very cool tool. There's another adjustment that pivots the unit horizontally. Inside is no problem.
There's a tripod socket in the base but it's recessed so much that you need a long screw on your tripod. The laser lines spread perhaps 45 degrees wide. Only 1 of the 2 lasers worked in the first unit I received in spite of the box being in good shape and the product well packaged. From 10', the horizontal line was about 8 feet long. It takes some head scratching to figure out how to get it to do what you need and having a ladder to put it on is necessary if you want to use it outside with a high line.
The laser assembly hangs from the top of the housing which is how it autolevels. Not bright or robust enough for a professional but handy for the homeowner.
This level is 1/4", so I picked up a Manfrotto 015 3/8-Inch Female to 1/4-Inch adapter and the adapter IS long enough to screw into the level. I have tripods with both a 3/8" and 1/4" threaded screw. Works very well around the house. I've used it for hanging pictures and some shelves. One note: it doesn't seem to screw into my tripods (as other reviewers have noted) - the screw isn't long enough. So if you happen to have a 3/8" tripod, pick up this adapter (about $5 here at Amazon, or a good photography store) and it will screw into the base of the level.
The thing was broke within 30 minutes and feels like it was made with $2 of materials.
