Editorial Reviews:

Never waste valuable time searching for discs again. The Imation Disc Stakka is an automated carousel that stores, protects and retrieves all of your 12 cm optical discs, making lost or damaged discs a thing of the past. Each Disc Stakka unit holds 100 discs and you can stack units up to 5 high to create a tower that holds up to 500 discs. This tower links to your computer via a single USB connection, and the bundled OpdiTracker software lets you find and eject any discs in seconds. It's the simple and efficient way to manage your CD and DVD library.

User Comments about the Imation Disc Stakka - CD/DVD Management Tool

Unfotunately it quit working after 6 months. Great when it was working well. This product created a lot more hassle for me than it ever saved me.

The motor is about 1". I initially thought this was handy. Life of components: Thin flimsy rubber band used to drive the plastic gears should last 6 mos. No wonder they have a 7 Day Return Policy. Cost to produce $[.]. The support blows too. The strongest piece is the springs which keep the gate rollers in place.

Its probably too strong which makes the gate too tight and stops the discs from ejecting. I would actually give these a negative 5 Stars if I could. I have taken them them apart and these things are junk. Yet everytime I want to eject a disc it tells me something is blocking the gate, yet nothing is. I have 121 errors on 1, 358 errors on the 2nd, and 478 on the 3rd tird. Do NOT waste your money.Sincerely,Matthew P.

The database softare is bare bones but it does the trick of locating and ejecting your discs efficiently. A friend of mine bought one at the same time as me and was not as lucky. All 200+ of my data DVDs/CDs are now accessible within seconds. However, business users might find it worth the price. It took a while to enter all of my DVDs into the OpdiTracker software but it was worth the effort. I noticed a few reviewers mentioned that their Stakkas started to fail after one year. I would pass on purchasing if you have to pay full price ($99) which averages $1 per disc for the convenience.

I think this is a little too steep for the average Joe who just want to organize his DVD collection. I bought 3 stakkas on sale at $39 each (refurbished) a few months ago and so far, they have worked without any major issues. As long as your stakka was not shaked around, it should work as promised. As others have experienced, he had problems ejecting stored discs which from what I was told, was caused by misalignment of the motor/drive belt during rough shipment. My friend returned his unit (he did not want to go through the hassle of troubleshooting it). I will post an update a year from now to confirm if this is an inherent issue with the Stakkas.

It didn't work out of the box, wouldn't eject any disc. Buyer beware. This item is very poorly made and prone to fail. Don not purchase one of these.

Works good with PC not too well with Macs OS. Fortunately I have both.
