Editorial Reviews:

Microphone and stand package includes a Nady SP1 mic with mic clip, 20' mic cable, and a tripod fixed-boom mic stand. The SP1 dynamic mic has a convenient recessed on-off switch and broad frequency response that makes it useful for back up vocals, speaking, miking guitar cabs, and even drums....

User Comments about the Nady SP1 Microphone and Stand Package

Very sturdy and has good fastenings. If you want to plug this into and amp, I suggest you search "XLR female to 1/4 male" and choose what you want. These is useful or annoying, depending on how you want to use it.The cable is fine quality and is 20 feet long, which is great for the price of this package. The stand is awesome; the boom is 2'6" long and comes with a clip for attachment of microphone. That's what I did and it worked well for me.

The normal part of the stand can go about 5' high so max height is around 7+'. You may also need a pre-amp depending on what amp you have.Overall, I was very happy with the shipping from Musician's Friend (FREE over $99) and it came really quickly. I bought this package knowing nothing about microphones and I'm writing this review knowing nearly nothing about microphones.

For other people in my position, here is some info:The mic only catches sounds aimed directly at it, very close in front of it. I am a complete beginner and I needed some mics so this seemed like a good deal. It is.

Great product for beginners but I'm not sure if it would handle even a small gig.

When I finally did try the microphone on an amplifier, the sound was so soft, you can hardly hear it. I'll keep this for the microphone stand, although next time I'd choose a stand that doesn't have these three legs you can trip on.When I got this microphone, the seller packed it badly. The box was falling apart, tape open, box was beat up, paper work falling out. The microphone didn't work with my keyboard (it ended up needing a Dynamic Microphone). And if you get this, make sure you get an adapter so you can easily plug it to an amplifier too.(I got a better deal at Radio Shack on a better mic, I could've gotten a better stand for the same price too, oh well.). I'd think twice before buying from a seller who's not Amazon direct.

The versatility of XLR connectors (with the option to use a 1/4 jack adapter at one end if necessary) seals the deal. Excellent bargain, had mine for over 3 months and no problems. I won't go as far as to say that this Nady SP1 Microphone and Stand Package could compete with the higher-end more expensive products for professional use (such as on stage live performances, expensive pro production recordings, and rigorous packing / transit), but for for someone who just wants a good mic for home use with an adjustable boom-stand, you can't beat this package for the price. Perfect for basic home recordings and webcasting / internet DJ's. Very happy with this package.

but maybe i just ha a defected one. either way, u can't beat the price. the cord that comes with it is crap, so be prepaired to replace it if u use it alot. it is totally worth it just for the mic and the stand. the mic is great for PA use, and other uses. it went out on me about 2 weeks after owning it. great sound pick up.

I hate "puh" voice sounds, and even worse - wind noise. A cheap windscreened mic will almost always give you better outdoor sound than a $100+ Shure without a windscreen.Another thing - I often use the mic stands as light stands. I use these cheap Nady mics for live video recording, usually voice but sometimes music. Why not. They do the job, and with this deal they were essentially free. They do what I need them to do, and I don't freak out about one getting stolen or broken os some idjit knocking over one of the stands -- although so far, the only breakage I've had was a loose XLR connector on one cord, which took about 2 minutes to fix.A "beyond outstanding" bargain. One add-on I use all the time = foam windscreens I buy in 3-packs from a local music store for about $6. :)
