Instead of just promising ourselves that we will do 5 more minutes of email before we get up and get ready, we just set the timer. In fact it helps the grown-ups in the family too. I bought this for my 5-yr old daughter to help with her homework that she needs to finish within a certain time. Now we also use it to help with the last 15 min of getting ready to get out of home, and using this timer is a lot better than me constantly reminding her to "hurry up, or you'll be late.". Great price too.
It is simple to use and has given me no problems. This is an excellent little timer that does exactly what it is supposed to do. I especially like the fact that it can be set for more than one hour.
I really needed a vibrating timer for times when someone else is sleeping in the room where I'm working -- and this one is very easy to use. The replacement timer works fine, and is just as convenient as I'd hoped. The first timer I received must have gotten damaged in shipping -- didn't work at all. I was very impressed by Amazon's customer service, however, which sent a replacement that came the next day. The fate of the first unit means this product is probably pretty fragile -- probably wouldn't withstand being dropped -- but that's the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5.
Since it is so lightweight, compact and portable, I find I use it far more frequently. It is so easy to use and far more accurate than my old egg timer with bell. and, I have to say, they were absolutely correct. I wasn't sure this was the timer I wanted but everyone's opinions were so positive. One of my better purchases.
The timer is loud enough if you place it on a table and put it on sound and vibrate. I work in audio recording where I need to turn things off at the precise moment. The vibrate is louder than the sound if it can rattle on a hard surface.I can also carry it on my belt if need be.
