The transmitter and receiver need to have direct view of each other. I have concrete walls in my house, therefore it did not work very well. This is a good product, but did not work in my house. But I still got a signal, just with lots of lines/interference.
However, the signal is not as good as was with the Belkin device. Enter the RF-LINK AVS-5811.The RF-LINK was very easy to setup and get going. It was a first gen 5.8ghz AV Sender. Simply passing in front of, or standing in front of the device causes a crackling/popping noise from the reduced signal. It litterally took longer to remove from the box than it did to get a signal going between the two.
The picture quality is pretty good and after 3yrs in the house it is still nice not to have to run a wire into our kitchen to get TV. Belkin no longer makes the item, but because it had a lifetime warranty, they refunded the full original purchase price (GO BELKIN). We owned the Belkin PureAV RemoteTV product. Having experienced NO interference of ANY type with the 5.8ghz Belkin product, I wanted to make sure to get another 5.8ghz AV/Sender as the failed Belkin was in our Kitchen. The manual indicates you should have a clear line-of-sight between the transmitter and the receiver which is just not practical for what you expect to use it for.I gave this product a 3 out of 5 because I may be somewhat biased as a result of my happiness with the performance of the Belkin.
It was GREAT while it lasted - a little over 3 years. But when comparing 1 on 1, this product would have rated more closely to a 2.
Virtually no recption, and the two units were only 20 ft apart. Item did not work as advertised. Don't buy this.
This unit solved the problem. High quality signal transmission to tv in home gym in lower level, 70 feet away and through several walls. Previously had audio interference from home wifi router with a transmission system operating at the same 2.4Ghz. Highly satisfied with the technology.
It enables you to change channels, stop;rewind;ff;play;pause, and power up and down your source in the same room as your receiver. This source could be a DVD player, VCR, Cable/satellite box etc. The 5.8GHz of this product makes it ideal when using telephones and/or wireless Internet which run on 2.4GHz frequency. As with ANYTHING wireless, you have occasional interference and static but you do have the ability to choose between one of 4 channels to keep those to a minimum. I'm using the unit in the next room so I can't vouch for the distance of this unit but I am going through one brick wall with no problems. The added feature of the IR repeater is a great addition to this kind of unit. All in all, the pros outweigh the cons.
