User Comments about the Sylvania DVC860D DVD/VCR Combo
Hard to program. Dolphin Screensaver. The bad: confusing remote. This is decent for the price I paid. The good:Cheap. Good looks. Mine stopped loading disks properly after 3 years of heavy use and a move and is now on its way to the electronics recycler. Lots of inputs & outputs. I think I only paid like $50 for it way back when, so this is neither surprising nor really disappointing either.
A little bulky but overall good product. Good buy for money. It's not progressive scan (for you flat panel owners)so look elsewhere.
I've had two of these units for three years now - both in fine working order, although I practically never used their VHS features. They're light, easy to work with, and the remote control is easy to figure and hold. There is no DTS-mode for these. At the time of this writing, I'm sure that spending $100.00 on a DVD unit nets you better options.
It began "eating" VHS tapes six months ago and now refuses to recognize DVDs, but it will still play CDs. This was a christmas present to my husband only two years ago. If we didn't need another CD player this would still be a useful piece of equiptment, but as it is, don't buy this and plan on it working for more than two years.
Not too expensive, all the features i was looking for. I previously owned a more expensive panasonic unit and the picture quality in this dual deck is actually better. Definately a good buy if you're looking for an easy to use, inexpensive unit. Its nice having both the dvd and vhs player in the same deck, its convenient and saves space. Good buy.
