User Comments about the Viking 128 MB SmartMedia Card (SSFDC3/128)

exe files. These Smart cards, of any brand from what I have gathered are NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION. I have 3 128's and a 64mb. These are old school. Also, I use the 64mb chip to store all of my passwords and usernames for all of my online accounts.

They can be used for storing or transfering any digital media that will fit on them from pictures to any music format and even small programs ie. They still aren't cheap and can be found all over the web. I am currently searching for more and want them new. Versitile, and a lot more sturdy than most people give them credit for. Just drag and drop.

I pull them out of the camera slap them into the reader and then pop them back into the Olympus C-4000 and have never had a problem. News flash, sorta. I touch mine, then wipe them with my t-shirt, I drop 'em. I use huge passwords so I just copy and paste the passwords for added security online. I use them and plan on using them for many years to come however.

Very skinny very easy to keep out of sight although living in the woods right next to the Canadian border I don't have to worry about that sort of thing at all aye.

I don't know who started this rumor that the cards are fragile but I've dropped them on the floor and tossed them around without a second thought as to proper care. I don't know where all this talk about how fragile they are, they are not fragile. When we needed to demo them, we'd yank them out of our pockets and stick them in a camera or photo printer to demo these products for sale. I've owned my 8mb, 32mb and 64mb since 2001 and still treat them without any due respect. My pocket was full of change and with keys, and these Smartmedia cards full of my fingerprints. They are an outdated media now and are getting to be very expensive because of their scarceness. They definitely are not flimsy although those skinny things would have you believe that and this is just the bottom line truth.

And I believe they are the same with SD cards, compactflash cards and the whole lot of them which is to give all the credit to the engineering and quality of these memory card products. Short of saying that Smart Media Cards are indestructible, they are pretty hardy and can take quite a bit of abuse. I use to work at a Computer store (nope not tellin) and to keep the cards from being stolen kept them in my pocket. They can take just about all the abuse you can throw at it. How do I know. Damn, there had to be a drawback.

If you have a digital camera that only uses SmartMedia, this is a good buy. This is the largest size of SmartMedia card that I've been able to find and they don't seem to make them anymore. Works great, no problems after 2 years of use.

Been using the card for about 3 years now, has about outlived its usefulness because of size, but is still working good after hundreds of downloads/erases.

have been using this card since early 2003. No complain so far, stores a lot of pics for my fuji finepix.
