User Comments about the Pioneer PD-F1009 301-Disc Changer

So far dependable. A great way to store and have ready to play all of my CD'S.An improvement would be if while playing one could remove and clean or add a CD. Convenient, simple to understand and use. The unit stops playing when you try.

Good LCD display on unit - I can read it from the couch. Very quiet also. The remote is very basic but works - no LCD. This is exactly what I wanted. The sound is great and the speed is good for the volume of CD's stored. So far I love it. It was simple and easy to set up. I'm starting to listen to music I've had stacked in a closet for five years.

I suspect that stuffing bubble wrap on top of the internal carousal full of discs and then handling it gently would obviate the need to remove the discs and carry them separately with the problem of providing physical protection for them.A second unit can be combined to provide a total storage of 600+2--which implies I could increase my library by another 200 discs. Although I'm still not quite finished loading it, the controls readily allow one to access the last empty slot and, if you should want to remove a disc to play in an auto or other player, it is easy to retrieve/play/return it.One caveat is Pioneer's recommendation that, if the device must be moved, it should be unloaded/reloaded rather than be transported full. With a library of over 400 CD's and my 5 disc Yamaha acting squirrelly, I felt the time had come to solve both problems. Since I had good experience with the Pioneer DV-F727 300+1 DVD player, the equivalent CD magazine player seemed a good bet and,so far, this has been the case. I haven't gathered up the nerve to broach such an idea to my wife.

Also the Sony has a keyboard port so you can plug in a keyboard and edit disk information manually (a very nice feature). With the Pioneer, I don't have a single CD where the "CD text" is read and displayed. Also, the Sony's display has a seperate line for CD text where the Pioneer replaces track information with the text.

The Sony does a much better job of reading and displaying the titles and artists from CDs. Because of this (I assume) the Sony displays the CD's text much more quickly (the Pioneer's manual says its displays the text after 5 seconds). This is a great product, as you can see from the other reviews.

The one down side to the Pioneer that the Sony has better is the CD text feature. I chose the Pioneer instead of Sony's 300 disk version because of the reviews about the better quality of the Pioneer. My parents have the Sony CDPCX355.

For both players, I have a hard copy of CD locations so the CD text is no big deal but it is something to consider.

PRODUCT IS AS ADVERTISED AND IS QUALITY; ONLY DRAWBACK IS TIME IN LOADING THE CD'S AND MAINLY REMEMBERING TO IDENTIFY LOCATIONS OF CD'S. ONCE THEY ARE LOADED, IT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND A CD IF YOU HAVEN'T MADE A CATALOG LISTING.
